.Visual Artist in Residence
This is geared towards a traditional AIR for painters, sculptors, photographers and mixed media. We have a limited interior space in our workshop building as well as covered carport outdoor space in which to work as well as unlimted en plein air space on property. We have easels and dropcloths available. You will create a significant body of works with exhibition and curatorial support during a set timeline. At the conclusion of your stay, depending on schedule, we may offer our dedicated gallery space for you to host a showing of your work from 3 months or longer, or if you prefer, you may chose another space for you to display.
.Writer in Residence
Similar to the AIR, only you work with words. Whether poetry, fiction or non-fiction, we welcome writers who need a space to develop or complete their work. We are especially excited to support writers who share information about our G*D given ability to recover and heal in mind-body-spirit. We offer a vast library reading room filled with books ranging from esoteric scriptural studies to permaculture and beyond. We ask that you develop video readings for us to share on our socials or perform in-person readings of your work as you progress on a pre-arranged schedule. The Writer in Residence may chose to sleep on the couch in our reading room container, although we request that you keep ALL personal items in your car and never in this shared public space.
.Musician in Residence
Are you a musician or composer looking to hone your talents towards some specific end goal or process? We offer a dedicated music room with an acoustic listening library with real analog records. We offer a P.A., digital mixer, 4 track analog tape recorder, amplifier, yamaha weighted key keyboard, roland synthesizer, full drums, ukeleles, world beat percussion. We are almost done with finishing out our small stage performance area where we will ask you to share your musical gifts on a pre-arranged schedule. The Musician in Residence may chose to sleep on the couch in our music room container, although we request that you keep ALL personal items in your car and never in this shared public space.
.Therapist/Healer in Residence
Are you honing your skills as a therapist or type of healer? Are you not yet licensed and need a place to practice your skills, sound baths or energy medicine? We can offer our dedicated healing cave room for you. It comes equipped with complete sound healer tools, crystals and halotherapy lamps, biomat and many other healing implements. We will work with you on presenting a workshop for healing techniques as your contribution to community. The Healer in Residence may chose to sleep on the massage table in our Healing Cave, however, we request that you keep ALL personal items in your car and never in this shared public space.
.Farmer in Residence
Do you just want to go someplace where you can grow seeds, plant starts and experiment with gardening, wildcrafting or permaculture techniques, but you cannot afford the land or materials to do it? The Seed of Life is intending to grow all of the plants traditionally found in the Holy Land and Garden of Eden (Pistachios, Figs, Dates, Pomegranates, Olives, Citrus, Jujubes, and so much more…). We have existing beds ready for planting and tending and other beds ready to be developed as experimental growing locations. We have a vast seed library and one greenhouse with another on the way eventually. You will be expected to share some of the harvest of what you sow in our roadside farm stand. We also ask that you develop a plan to bring young people of our community into gardening. All landscape materials will be reimbursed with prior approval.
.Chef in Residence
One of the most unique residencies we offer is our Chef in Residence. This is because our mission is based on food – Genesis 1:29. Are you a veggie foodie looking to develop recipes for a raw or vegan oriented school, workshop, cafe or cookbook? Come and use our (non commercial) kitchen facilities to work out the kinks in your culinary craft. At the conclusion of your stay, we will ask you to host a dinner or workshop or other sharing experience for our community. Food purchased to feed other residents may be reimbursed with prior approval.
.Maker(s) in Residence
Do you have a vision or skillset that doen’t fall neatly into another category? stone stacking? free energy devices? electroculture? crystal wands? Or perhaps you are an architect or builder who always wanted to try their hand at alternative structures that incorporate Mid Century Modern principles of indoor-outdoor living and ‘form follows function.’ earthships? bottle buildings? earthblock? zomes? domes? treehouses? cob? rammed earth? strawbale? aircrete? hempcrete? What will you make? We have tons of tools for building and making. Tell us your vision and let us develop a plan on how to share it with the greater community. All building materials will be reimbursed with prior approval.
.“Mover” in Residence
Are you a dancer or yoga enthusiast or other movement specialist? We are open to developing a program for yoga or dance or other forms of therapeutic physical movement for our greater community. Let’s discuss how this residency would look.
